The one that has stayed with me was the Metgod Free Kick when Parkes was in goal, late 80's i think in the Cup. Parkes was a big bugger and it went in over his head, HOWLER

It's just rose tinted specs, Manuel son. When lockdown first kicked in I watched a fair few 90's clips of us, and Ludo was ropey as you like. He made some unbelievable saves, which is what everyone remembers, but Fabianski is all round our best keeper since Parkes.

I would rate Fab above Ludo. Folk like to forget that after the first season or 2 Ludo started dropping a few clangers.

Mcknightmare is the worse. Even if I slept at night the Luton home game would wake me up.

McKnight was truly horrendous but I have forgiven him...just for the night he had at Highbury... the LEROY game...

Fabiański is an excellent keeper getting ready to hang up his gloves in the top flight. It therefore stands to reason that he should have an understudy of equally excellent potential to hand over to. Is Trott that man? Only asking like.

Shittest keepers for us is quite hotly contested. We've had loads of shitters.

Roberto has to be the worst I can remember for a while. Ilic was a car crash. Bywater was dreadful.

What other terrible ones have we had?

I'd have Fabs above Bob Green I think. Just because Green was always a bit of a sulky tart.

I'd put Merve the Swerve (pre marriage) in that group as well... and Roberto Green... Fab would make no 5 on my list...

1. Parkes
2. Ludo
3. Merv (pre marriage)
4. Green
5. Fab

I don't think Fab is better than Ludo in his prime, our third best behind Parkes and Ludo, and a country mile better than Adriano

We had a ropey unorganised back 4 in Pellegrini's first season, and Fabianski was HOTY, by an absolute landslide.

Mr Kenzo 11:58 Tue Feb 23
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Tottenham - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
The fact that we have a strong organised back 4 also helps the confidence of the keeper, something we have not had in a long time

People have got a weird judgement over West Ham goalkeepers. Many on here loved Adrian because he used to do fist pumps, ignoring the fact he was mostly shit.

Fabianski is the best keeper I've seen at West Ham. He's better than Ludo was, who comes second. We're lucky to have him, and we'll realise that when he's gone.

Agree especially on the abuse of players and especially under the latest stint under Moyes . Not one player, now Anderson etc. have been shipped out, is not giving their all. Lanzini who for me is the most ineffective, is still trying his best but perhaps that injury and the physical demands have led to him being the weakest link nowadays. But you don't give him abuse. Noble should be given massive respect too. Yes he is on the wane at 34 years old but has stuck with the club and been one of its most consistently good performers during the last 16 years of which 11 have been under the toxic regime of GSB.

But one of the problems with forums and social media is different levels of understanding and experience of fans in addition to the lack of humility or insecurity / inadequacy of people who dont want to admit they got something wrong or even be willing to be wrong. Fragile psyches I guess?. For example, I suspect if Spurs had got level before Moyes made the change to bring on Johnson etc, there would have been outrage amongst those with "confirmation bias" that Moyes subs were rubbish, he's always been negative etc. They may not have realised it was to made to not just negate the influence of Bale but allow us to switch to a back 5 and generally hang onto what we had when the efforts of the last 70 or so minutes had many of the team blowing out their ar**s.

So arguments would then turn to personal insults as the insecure / inadequate or outright narcissistic posters were asked to give the rationale for what would likely be ridiculous questioning of Moyes. Btw, Moyes of course gets things wrong, he's human but has proved over the longer term that overall he is getting things right.

Anyway, nothing will change its human beings and especially in the modern interconnected world where everyone thinks they have a voice ( Alf sees the irony of this post :-) ). A dip in form in the last 13 games and those with agendas based on the psychological need to be right and be appreciated / listened to will surface once more.

If we were to nosedive now to mid table I think I would be forgiving because whatever happens you can see the ethos of the team/squad has changed and that bodes well for the long term. Its been a successful season whatever happens now tbh if you stand back and look at where we came from.

I'd say Bowen and Benrahma are still adapting to the pace of the league. Too many touches, poor decisions and turnovers of the ball. If they keep working at it and with players around them to support then they will only improve. They have shown they have an attitude and bond with their team mates and that is so valuable especially with no crowds to lift them.
I also agree that some players get unwarranted abuse. Noble and Yarmalenko in my book get more stick than is deserved. They are part of a overachieving team unit which is solid on and off the pitch.
